Exova appoints Alison Clayton as GM of European pharmaceutical business

Exova, a global testing, calibration and advisory services provider, has appointed Dr Alison Clayton as general manager of its European pharmaceutical business. 

With a career spanning more than 20 years in pharmaceuticals, Alison joins Exova from Quintiles where she was most recently in the position of global head of project services for the central laboratory business, responsible for managing global teams, customer account management and generating and implementing both operational and strategic plans. 

In her new role, Alison will be responsible for Exova’s Edinburgh and Camberley laboratories, utilising her operational experience, technical knowledge and solid understanding of the regulatory framework in which Exova’s customers operate. 

Phil Coles, director of health sciences, Europe at Exova, said: “Alison has built a strong career in pharmaceuticals and her extensive experience in operations management and knowledge of the industry makes her a valuable asset to our customers. She joins us at a time of growth for our European pharmaceuticals business and she will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambitions.” 

A graduate of Glasgow University with both a BSc (Hons) and a PhD in pharmacology, Alison has published more than 60 papers and abstracts in scientific journals and has participated in the Scottish NTA Judging Panel and the STEM Ambassadors Programme.
