GE Healthcare Life Sciences’ Olivier Loeillot appointed GM Asia commercial BioProcess

Olivier Loeillot has been appointed general manager, Asia commercial for bioprocess, at GE Healthcare Life Sciences. In this newly-created role Olivier will oversee commercial activities in the fast-moving Asian market for GE Healthcare Life Science’s rapidly growing bioprocess business, which provides innovative start-to-finish technologies and services for the biopharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturing industry. Olivier now reports to Emmanuel Ligner, GM global commercial bioprocess, and is based in Singapore. He takes on this responsibility in addition to his role as GM Enterprise Solutions.

GE Healthcare’s strategy of helping the biopharmaceutical industry improve product yields and reduce time-to-market is reflected in a series of recent developments in the Asian region. In September 2013, biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing services provider JHL Biotech announced that the first of GE’s innovative KUBio modular facilities for monoclonal antibody production would be built at its site in Wuhan, China and then, in December 2013, that GE’s FlexFactory biomanufacturing platform had been successfully installed in its Taiwan facility.

Emmanuel Ligner, GM global commercial bioprocess, GE Healthcare Life Sciences, said: “The biopharmaceutical sector in Asia is seeing a lot of rapid growth and we are delighted that Olivier is heading up our efforts in this dynamic region. Olivier’s extensive experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing will strengthen significantly our ability to serve our customers there.”

Olivier Loeillot said: “I’m looking forward to building on our existing relationships in the region. The deeper understanding gained from those interactions, combined with the solid foundation created by our Singapore and Shanghai Fast Trak Training Centres, will enable us to tailor our comprehensive offering according to the needs of the life sciences industry locally.”

Before taking on this additional Asian role, Olivier was GM for Enterprise Solutions, GE Healthcare Life Sciences. Prior to that he was at Lonza, where he held a series of senior leadership roles in general management, business development and sales.  Loeillot earned his master’s degree in Chemistry in 1993 from The European High Institute of Chemistry of Strasbourg, France. He subsequently graduated from CESMA with a master’s degree in business administration.
