Analytical Sample Management Solution to be Showcased at Pittcon

At Pittcon, 2013, 17–21 March, Pennsylvania, US, Booth 558, TTP Labtech will showcase the lab2lab automated sample transport and management system, which connects remote analytical instrumentation and research laboratories by transporting tubes using compressed air. The system effectively ensures that samples are scheduled and analysed at the right time, in the right place, helping to send samples to the shortest queue. The results are then returned via the network to the scientist’s electronic lab notebook to generate data even faster.

The huge capital cost and maintenance overheads associated with analytical instrumentation such as LC-MS makes it unfeasible to have in every medicinal laboratory. With TTP Labtech’s lab2lab, existing centralised analytical instrumentation can be connected with several remote laboratories, thereby ensuring access to the analysis at a much lower cost.

Christopher Howson, BSc (Hons) MRSC, from Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research, will be giving a presentation entitled 'Satisfying the Analytical Needs of Scientists in the Most Efficient Way'. The presentation will cover a case study of lab2lab within the Horsham sector of Novartis Global Discovery Chemistry and discuss the particular importance for medicinal chemists of having easy and instant access to analytical instruments located in distant laboratories. The successful integration of TTP Labtech’s lab2lab allows samples to be sent direct from the benchtops to analytical equipment, allowing the medicinal chemist to focus on their research rather than waiting for their samples to be analysed.

During the exhibition, TTP Labtech will also be running a lab2lab tube competition where a lucky registrant will win an iPad mini.
