API production more sustainable through re-use of catalysts

by

Germany-based startup group DexLeChem has developed what it describes as a sustainable method of developing and producing active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

DexLeChem, a specialist in homogeneous chiral catalysis, claims to have enabled the re-use of the expensive chiral catalysts required for homogeneous asymmetric catalysis. “We all share the vision of making a significant contribution to green chemistry”, said Sonja Jost, CEO of the firm.

The group, which offers the re-use of developmental catalysts as a service, explains that it redesigns the asymmetric step in synthesis, thus enhancing the performance of the catalysis.

As part of the service it offers, the group will also supply IP research, providing data on relevant patent protections, as well as data on the gentle separation of the product and information on improving the reproducibility of catalysis.
