Granted: £50k for clinical pharmacy research

The UK Clinical Pharmacy Association (UKCPA) and Pharmacy Research UK are continuing their partnership in 2015 to offer a research fund of up to £50,000 to support pharmacy practitioners to take forward their research within clinical pharmacy.

This Clinical Pharmacy Research Grant is a clear demonstration of both organisations’ ongoing commitment of supporting pharmacists to develop their research skills for the benefit of patients and the public.

The funding is primarily aimed at pharmacists seeking to undertake research in their area of clinical practice, while further developing their research skills. While the quality of applications is of paramount importance, priority will be given to lead applicants for whom this will be their first research project as a Principal Investigator.

The funds available are for projects between £5,000 and £50,000. The deadline for submitting a bid is 5pm, 11th May 2015.

Professor Anthony Smith, Chair of Pharmacy Research UK, commented:

“We are delighted to be partnering with the UKCPA, again, through this research grant and support their membership to further develop their clinical practice through research, with patients at the centre. This partnership also demonstrates our continued commitment to working with others in areas of common interest, and we hope to build on this experience and reach out to new partners that share our vision of improving the health of the public through excellence in pharmacy research.”

Dr Sarah Carter, General Secretary of UKCPA commented: “We are delighted to partner again with PRUK to offer this research fund. We welcome applications for all clinical pharmacy research projects up to £50,000 in value, small or large. We would like to see projects which support the applicant to develop their research skills so would strongly encourage the inclusion of research training and research teams which include an academic partner.”
