Centre of excellence in biologics manufacturing opens in Singapore

A $2 million centre of excellence in biologics manufacturing has been opened in Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) in Singapore by global filtration, separation and purification company, Pall.

The centre features various technologies from Pall Biotech that will be used for practical training and application.

“Large molecule drugs offer the potential to treat debilitating and life-threatening diseases in ways that were not possible before. Yet, to achieve this, manufacturing processes need to evolve for greater speed, reduced cost, and higher quality outputs,” commented Steve Waters, vice-president of Biotechnologies, Pall Biotech Asia. “The NYP Centre will benefit students and the wider Biotech industry through direct access to the latest technologies. Overall, the goal is to increase workforce skill levels in Singapore and its neighbouring countries.”

“We are proud to partner with Pall Biotech to bring the NYP students a deeper level of knowledge that comes only from the practical application of skills,” said Dr Joel Lee, director of the NYP School of Chemical and Life Sciences. “It provides immense value to the students’ biologics and process technology, or chemical and pharmaceutical technology curriculum, giving them an excellent head-start for careers.”
