Charity tackling AMR opens grant scheme for researchers

Antibiotic Research UK (ANTRUK) — a charity focused on tackling bacterial antibiotic resistance — has launched a Small Research Grants scheme, which is open for applications from antibiotic resistance researchers.

The scheme will offer grants of a maximum value of £4,000 per year for up to three years to successful applicants. Grant applications should focus on 1) antibiotic resistance or 2) new antibiotic therapies or 3) health and societal impact of antibiotic resistance and how it could be avoided.

Grants can be applied for in the following areas:

Each application will undergo a review process by ANTRUK’s Science Committee, which will employ a scoring system developed by the Medical Research Council for use by independent referees. An external review may be used for the top scoring applications, which will involve at least two independent reviewers for peer review. ANTRUK’s trustees will be asked to ratify decisions to award grants.

Application forms are now available for completion and the scheme will no longer accept any application after 30 June 2018.
