ChemCon celebrates 20th anniversary

Service provider for custom development and custom manufacturing of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and fine chemicals ChemCon GmbH, is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Since the company’s founding in 1997, ChemCon has supplied customers of the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, biotechnology companies and research institutes worldwide. Thanks to partners Dr. Raphael Vogler (CEO) and Dr. Peter Gockel (CSO), both graduates from the Albert-Ludwigs-University, the company now employs 90 staff.

The company states that it success stems from its focus on custom-made production services for APIs and specialty chemicals. Strict regulatory production processes make small-scale production of APIs unprofitable for many companies. ChemCon however is able to counteract this trend and supports major pharmaceutical corporations as well as smaller pharma and biotechnology companies.

ChemCon’s 20 years’ experience has allowed it to adapt to the niche market. Whilst the company was initially founded as a specialist for cytotoxic bioinorganic APIs, the company has always maintained a strong competence in inorganic chemistry.

Chemcon has recently added current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) compliant polymer chemistry to its service. The company’s range of chemical expertise allows it to adapt very quickly to trends in the pharma industry. Current regulatory authorities are starting to demand cGMP-compliant documentation not only for APIs but for excipients, delivery agents, provocation substances, or dietary trace elements. ChemCon supports a number of companies with long-established products that have been affected by these changes.
