Colorcon opens technical facility in Vietnam

Supplier of pharmaceutical excipients and services, Colorcon, has opened a new Technical Services Laboratory at Ton Duc Thang University in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

“Opening this facility demonstrates Colorcon’s continued commitment to the expanding pharmaceutical market in Vietnam, reducing our customer’s time to market and making a positive contribution to their manufacturing quality and production efficiency,” explained David Wei, general manager, Colorcon South East Asia. “The investment highlights Colorcon’s dedication to providing best-in-class products and services across the region.”

“The new laboratory, is located at the Ton Duc Thang University, a leading university in Vietnam,” explained Tri Nha Huynh, Colorcon business development manager in Vietnam. “This facility enables Colorcon to bring direct support to customers in the pharmaceutical and related industries, providing easy access to our specialist technical services and a quicker turnaround time for their projects, helping to bring local generic medicines faster to market.”

“Colorcon’s Technical Services Laboratory is a good symbol of the collaboration in education and research between Ton Duc Thang University and the industry, which helps to provide students professional knowledge and skills during their study and contribute to the research on high quality pharmaceutical solid dosage forms for the health of people,” said Prof. Dr Minh Duc Nguyen, dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, Ton Duc Thang University.

It is forecasted that the pharmaceutical market in Vietnam will grow in value to an estimated $6.6 billion by 2020, with an ageing population, rising government support of the healthcare sector and forthcoming gains from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) predicted to be the main drivers of this growth.
