CPhI Worldwide opens its 2017 Pharma Awards

CPhI Worldwide has announced the opening of its 2017 Pharma Awards. Now in its 14th consecutive year, the awards have been expanded, including eight new categories, to celebrate the outstanding achievements in the pharma industry for the year.

There are 20 categories for this year’s awards, which the event organisers specify better mirror the market. An example of how the awards have diversified can be seen in the ‘Formulation and Excipients’ award from last year, which is now split into two separate excellence awards. Additionally, two new categories have been created to evaluate company performance by size: ‘Pharma Company of the Year — Large’ and ‘Pharma Company of the Year — SME’.

Furthermore, UBM, organisers of the event, have made a nod towards the increased importance sustainability has upon the industry with the introduction of the ‘Sustainability Initiative of the Year’ award.

According to CPhI Worldwide, helping its customers to expand into new markets forms an integral part of the event, therefore, this year’s awards will include the ‘Export Promotion’ award, which will recognise those companies that have expanded internationally. Finally, three additional excellence awards have been created to reflect the growth of new audiences attending CPhI Worldwide: ‘OTC’, ‘Patent Centricity’, and ‘IT, mHealth, and Digitalization’.

Last year, over 100 entries to the awards were received, which was the largest number yet. This year, CPhI Worldwide has stated it is anticipating an even larger number of entries.

All entries to these awards are free-of-charge and the submission deadline is 25 August. Any entries made after this date will not be eligible for consideration. Shortlisted entries will be announced on 1 September.

The winners will be announced during the CPhI Pharma Awards Gala Dinner, which will take place on 24 October. All finalists will receive a unique profile of their award entry within the CPhI Show daily, and winners and finalists will be announced to the pharma media.
