Downflow booth designed for energy efficiency

Extract Technology recently launched its downflow booth GreenLine, providing an energy saving means of dispensing powders

A great deal of interest was shown in the version specially designed for this year's Achema, particularly its see-through side walls, which owing to their huge appeal are now a bespoke design option. Key benefits are guaranteed operator exposure levels of <100 µg/m3, LED lightning, custom designed low pressure filters, auto standby/start mode and full compliancy of fans and motor with ERP2015.

As the name implies, GreenLine was designed to tackle the problem of laboratory noise pollution and to support the worldwide efforts in limiting energy consumption.

Energy efficiency consultancy EECO2 was commissioned by Extract Technology to independently validate the performance of GreenLine Extract downflow booths.

EECO2 has developed mobile energy monitoring units (MEMU), which were customised to meet the requirements of Extract Technology’s new booth with regards to fan power, lighting/controls, filter pressure and fan pressure.

EECO2 engineers deployed the system on site and took independent readings with calibrated equipment to verify the MEMU data. EECO2’s remote monitoring service allowed diagnostics and analysis of results. As can be seen from the data below, the GreenLine booth has significantly reduced power and pressure requirements compared with standard booth systems.

Improvements recorded in Booth System Pressures and Booth Electrical Power are shown below:

Extract Technology has transferred the modular concept of the highly successful PharmAir booth to the GreenLine range, without compromising on flexibility, materials of construction or performance. This gives clients the option to replace or simply upgrade existing equipment.
