EDM Platform Release Enhances Web Experience and Workflow Support

IDBS has extended the capabilities of E-WorkBook, its enterprise data management (EDM) platform, offering major enhancements to the web client and integrations with IDBS’ workflow and analytics engine. A new asset handling technology has also been released.

According to the company, E-WorkBook is the only R&D informatics platform that provides interoperable web and desktop electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs). This ensures exceptional flexibility across an organisation, providing users with a single point of secure interaction with their data. E-WorkBook 9.3 extends web capabilities with customised personal and project dashboards. It provides fast and easy access to data and applications, including editing and content creation as well as the ability to complete tasks and workflows.

Also launched to work with 9.3 is InforSense for E-WorkBook, a sophisticated analytics and workflow system used across R&D and the health sciences. InforSense for E-WorkBook delivers high-end analytical power into the hands of researchers through their notebooks without the issues of integrating a separate product. It also allows analysts to build visual applications inside experiments by combining data from any source inside or outside their organisation.

E-WorkBook 9.3 also sees the introduction of the Asset Hub. This new technology streamlines and simplifies the management of a wide range of assets across the R&D process. Other hubs will follow in future releases.

Recently, IDBS was rated ‘Very High’ by Gartner Inc in Biology and Translational Medicine in a report titled, ‘Manufacturers Must Consider Scientific Domain Expertise During ELN Selection’, published 11 January 2013. According to the report, a ‘Very High’ rating ‘means the vendor has excellent scientific domain capabilities and is approaching the ‘de facto’ standard’. It was also rated ‘High’ in Chemistry, Formulation and GxP sectors. E-WorkBook is proven to help scientists save between two and eight hours a week by enabling them to streamline processes, capture knowledge and report more quickly.
