Expert Chemometrics Made Easy with Software to be Presented at Pittcon

Symbion Systems will be featuring its new Symbion QT chemometric model building and prediction software at Pittcon 2013, 17–21 March, Pennsylvania, US, Booth 3048.

According to the company, Symbion QT represents a new approach to chemometrics, one which can be characterised as 'expert chemometrics made easy'. Unlike earlier multivariate programs, Symbion QT places the chemometric engine in the background, focusing instead on automating data input and logically stepping through the process of calibrating even the most exacting sample conditions without requiring specialised training. It guides beginner and expert alike through the process of assembling and processing the data needed to build and evaluate calibrations. The resulting calibrations are fully validated, documented and ready for deployment.

“In developing Symbion QT we took the viewpoint of the intelligent but non-specialist user,” said Dr. Michael A Power, R&D Director at Symbion Systems. “Using comprehensive visualisation tools to illuminate each step of the process, Symbion QT guides the novice user through model development in a natural, efficient manner. It begins with overall data assembly followed by rapid and flexible designation of training, test and validation sets, continuing through the choice of preprocessing and analysis routines and concluding with the analysis and validation of prediction results.”

The QT prediction module enables real-time monitoring of chemical systems during laboratory development or on-line processing. When used with a multi-threaded process monitoring program such as Symbion RTM, it will generate numerous analytical predictions per second while providing appropriate prediction metrics and outlier status indications. Automated internal diagnostics allow the user to track the validity of a model over time and to make adjustments whenever necessary. All changes are fully documented, providing full compliance with 21 CFR, Part 11.

Symbion QT is the latest of Symbion’s growing line of software products for laboratory and process analysis such as Symbion DX and RX, which provide a comprehensive capability for analytical process development. The latest version of these products, Version 2.5, preserves all of the advanced features of earlier versions while adding several new capabilities, including significantly expanded database functionality inherent in the use of a standard Oracle database.
