Formpipe Life Science urges industry to move away from outdated paper-based record keeping

Specialist provider of electronic data preservation software, Formpipe Life Science, has made a call to industry to step out of the past and make a concerted effort to move towards electronic compliance management systems.

The company urged industry to give up its traditional paper-based record keeping methods during this year’s Epista Swedish Knowledge and Network Day. During the day, Formpipe Life Science led discussions on preserving long-term data and the importance of maintaining data integrity, which focused on new technologies and how they can be used to enhance operations.

With data volumes increasing regularly and a forecasted 50% of currently employed data centre systems being retired by 2020, new technologies are an important step for businesses to secure future compliance.

“As ever, it was great fun to attend and present at an Epista event. As a trusted implementation Formpipe partner, Epista leads the Nordic market for their approach and experience in delivering IT compliance projects. Their events provide attendees with industry best practice in a positive environment,” said Ben Saxton, head of sales at Formpipe Life Science. “Attendees at the event brought great enthusiasm, as well as a willingness to share real business challenges they are facing and were open to discussing innovative solutions to those issues. From these conversations, we found that there is still a surprising reliance on paper records, yet it was interesting to be able to share solution ideas and suggest new approaches that move businesses forward, versus settling for the industry’s current, outdated methods.”

The day, which took place at the end of May in Stockholm also hosted a working group session, tackling the reality of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the impact these regulations have on life sciences.
