I Holland Helps Solve Tablet Sticking Problems with In-Depth Webinar

Designed to offer advice and expertise on tabletting problems, global tablet tooling specialist I Holland will host the webinar ‘Solving your Sticking Problems with Tableting Science’ on 6 February 2014.

The webinar will cover the main factors of why tablet formulations stick to punch tip faces and how to overcome this with the use of punch and die coatings. Rob Blanchard, I Holland R&D Manager will offer advice on this prolific problem within the tabletting world and explore how scientific techniques have been used to develop optimised anti-stick coatings for punches and dies, highlighting to tablet manufacturers how quickly an anti-stick tooling solution can be recommended using I Holland’s new TSAR model.

The TSAR (Tabletting Science Anti-Stick Research) programme in collaboration with the University of Nottingham’s School of Pharmacy and experts from the Laboratory of Biophysics and Surface Analysis in the UK has now been completed. A predictive model has been developed that will be used by I Holland to quickly recommend the right coating solution simply based on knowledge of the API or main component of the formulation.

TSAR used advanced analytical techniques to study single particle adhesion to the punch tip face, demonstrating the causes of sticking: atomic force microscopy, surface topography characterisation, laser profilomitery and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy.

I Holland’s predictive tool can now recommend the right punch material, or coating solution very quickly based on proven scientific knowledge of how the different elements within the formulation behave and interact to cause the sticking.

‘Solving your sticking problems with Tabletting Science’ webinar will offer advice and give examples of the TSAR findings. For further information visit www.iholland.co.uk. The webinar will also be available on the I Holland website after the event.
