Inaugural IAX showcase event in Leicester now open for registrations

The inaugural Industry & Academia Exchange (IAX) showcase event, taking place next month in Leicester, is now open for registrations from life sciences companies interested in developing research and secondment opportunities with the University of Leicester.

This one-day event, being held on Wednesday 16 May at Winstanley House in Leicester, will bring together academic scientists, clinicians and businesses from across the globe, to forge engagement opportunities, identify ‘two-way people exchanges’ and future research project ideas for development.

Encompassing a series of rapid presentations and followed by a view of the world of healthcare to be presented by pharmaceutical and life sciences expert, Jo Pisani from PWC, this event represents the first activity in the university’s new, 18-month, IAX programme funded through the Medical Research Council’s Proximity to Discovery Scheme.

The aim of the overall IAX programme is to drive engagement and create relationships between academia and healthcare, bio-medical and pharmaceutical industry partners through creative ways that will encompass workshops, academic industry training courses and two-way secondments.

“This is the first event in a whole series of activity over the next 18 months and it will be an exciting and stimulating day for everyone who attends,” stated pro-vice-chancellor Professor Philip Baker. “The event will present an ideal way to identify meaningful collaborations that will both enhance industry research needs and knowledge and bring valuable business research practice back to the university. I very much look forward to welcoming everyone to our showcase event.”
