Ireland is in safe hands with 3M’s day event

3M has announced that it will, this year, be delivering a day of talks for health and safety professionals in Dublin as a part of its Safety Network Live events.

The free event will take place at the city’s Aviva Stadium on 14 September and will offer attendees the opportunity to participate in a series of informative discussions led by experts from a range of industries.

After breakfast and a brief welcome, the programme of the day will start with two interactive talks, the first to be given by training consultancy company, UK BodyTalk, and the second by Jennifer Webster, a chartered psychologist at the Health and Safety Laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire. These talks will focus on how managers can gain buy-in and get their health and safety message across effectively to their workforce and how to recognise and tackle workplace stress, respectively.

The post-lunch part of the day will comprise of two further talks, given by 3M, that will be held simultaneously. Specifically, these will be given by Mike Horrocks (UK fall protection technical specialist at 3M) who will discuss working at height, fall protection and confined space access, and Rob Brill (technical manager at 3M) who will discuss the science of safety. After a short break all attendees will be invited to participate in an interactive role-playing session given by training provider 2 Macs.

Vikki Randles, marketing manager for the 3M Personal Safety division, said: “We’re really excited to be bringing Safety Network Live to Ireland for the first time.

“The event in Dublin will offer professionals an environment in which to learn about best practice and changes in the industry, by sharing knowledge and expertise amongst each other and gaining great insight from our carefully-selected guest speakers.”

This will be the second of four Safety Network Live events being held by 3M in 2017, which is an increase from two events that took place in 2016, as a result of popularity.

“We had more than 60 people in attendance at our last event in Manchester, which was an incredibly encouraging turnout,” added Randles. “Feedback has been really positive so far and we expect spaces to fill up fast for our remaining events, so we encourage those who are interested to book early.”
