Lonza to work with Rockwell Automation on digital transformation project

Biotech company Lonza has announced it will work with Rockwell Automation to help digitally transform nine of its former Capsugel facilities.

Lonza will utilise Rockwell Automation’s PharmaSuite Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software to digitise operations within its manufacturing environments. Lonza hopes that by using Rockwell’s solution, it can help avoid disruptions during high volume periods of just-in-time orders.

In particular, Lonza will use PharmaSuite MES software, along with FactoryTalk InnovationSuite software to better trace products down to the individual capsule carton and gain insights into performance and production.

Rockwell Automation’s software deployment across the nine sites will also provide 1,500 Lonza employees with operational technology-centric tools for helping improve efficiency and quality.

“Digital transformation is bringing new levels of operational efficiency, quality, process automation, and employee productivity to pharmaceutical companies globally,” said John Genovesi, senior vice president, Enterprise Accounts and Software, Rockwell Automation. “We’re proud to be working with Lonza as they evolve their products, operations, and workforce towards their maximum potential through the use of Rockwell Automation’s software solutions.”

Rockwell Automation has also been working with Lonza on an innovation programme to help  advance its pharmaceutical manufacturing operations .
