Optimised Sorbents and Reliable Dispensing Boast Industry Approval

Multisorb Technologies will be exhibiting at CPhI, highlighting its well-received Calculations through Operations program. The program provides an optimised sorbent in the desired format (Drop-In, Fit-In or Built–In). When required, the desired Drop-In sorbent is provided with its interdependent, corresponding sorbent dispensers, such as with the StripPax and StabilOx Systems.

The Calculations through Operations programme is unlike any other method of sorbent selection. Multisorb uses a very personalised approach to providing pharmaceutical companies with a turnkey solution for promoting the stability of moisture and oxygen sensitive drugs. Its proprietary SimulSorb and SimulOx pseudo-empirical modelling software accurately determines the sorbent required to quickly resolve chemical and physical stability concerns, thereby providing for a more rapid Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) or New Drug Application (NDA) filing. Based on the stability outcome and packaging considerations, an optimised sorbent solution is recommended with the flexibility to choose from Drop-In, Fit-In or Built-In sorbent solutions.

Drop-In sorbent formats include packets or canisters and are placed directly into the product packaging. Fit-in solutions do not intermingle directly with the pharmaceutical product but instead are conjoined with the packaging or pharmaceutical device, such as with self-adhesive sorbents or coated, compressed sorbents that fit securely into a cap or available space within a device. Built-In sorbents are thermoformed device components with sorbent incorporated into the material, providing invisible but highly effective sorbent protection.

As part of the Calculation through Operations program, the StabilOx System and StripPax Systems will be featured. StabilOx Packets and Canisters resolve product instability issues related to oxygen degradation. This product eliminates oxygen while maintaining the equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) in the package. This prevents cracking and leeching associated with over-drying, while at the same time preventing moisture-mediated degradation. The StabilOx System, comprised of StabilOx Packets or Canisters and corresponding StabilOx Dispenser, will ensure the integrity of a customer's oxygen sensitive drug product.

The StripPax System includes compact sorbents packets with high moisture adsorbing capacity and a StripPax Dispenser. StripPax Packets provide moisture and/or volatile adsorbing capabilities within a highly durable, non-dusting strip made from medical-grade, uncoated Tyvek material.

Multisorb has the solution to help maintain product integrity, improve product stability and extend product shelf life.
