Plastics manufacturer acquires two French companies in line with its growth roadmap

European plastics manufacturer, SGH Healthcaring, has acquired two French companies, Rovipharm and RR Plastiques, which aligns with the company’s growth roadmap.

SGH Healthcaring was created from the acquisition of Stiplastics Healthcaring by Mérieux Développement and Gimv in January this year (2018). The new company’s aim was to become a leading European medical device manufacturer, focused on administration systems for liquid and solid medicines.

With these two new acquisitions, SGH Healthcaring will double its size and improve its product portfolio: Rovipharm is a European supplier of dosing syringes and RR Plastiques is a key supplier of ear and eye medicine droppers. Annual sales for 2018 are expected to reach around €40 million.

“With this change of share ownership, we wanted to send a clear message that we intend to become a European leader for medical devices at a time of increasing regulatory constraints and customer requirements,” explained SGH Healthcaring CEO, Jérôme Empereur. “These two acquisitions are the first steps in our ambitious growth plan aimed at extending the product range available to our customers. Our group now employs 170 staff and has 10,000 m² of production space (including 3,000 m² of ISO 8-certified clean rooms) and a highly complementary pool of expertise.”

“Rovipharm and Stiplastics Healthcaring have enjoyed a good relationship for many years. United under the SGH Healthcaring banner, their pooled expertise will give them the required strength and edge in this extremely challenging and competitive market,” commented Emmanuelle Perdrix, Rovip CEO and Rovipharm shareholder. “Rovip is very proud that it took the opportunity to set up Rovipharm in 2006 and is also proud of the work achieved by its staff, who are now very pleased to be part of a new European group.”

“Having joined SGH Healthcaring, RR Plastiques is now in a position to speed up its business growth in Europe. Its staff are pleased that they will continue to work for a French company that upholds their values of putting people and innovation first,” summarised up Cédric Marmonier, CEO of Medicos and shareholder in Rovipharm and RR Plastiques.
