Put a lid on it

Amcor Flexibles Global Pharma division has unveiled its new Primera lid foil at InnoPack Europe this week. A push-through foil, Primera uses a print primer that works with all current printing technologies and inks, says the group. Designed for thermal resistance, it features a smooth surface, and is already said to be in use with certain pharmaceutical companies, contract manufacturers and printers in Europe and Latin America.

In September, Primera was given full release by the Swiss printing company HAPA, for ink systems 26, 38, 39, 78 DOD, 78 Webjet and 80 ULP. The group says that this makes it the first and only primer to achieve a release across so many systems, whilst also working on standard rotogravure, flexo, UV-flexo as well as CSAT, Wolke and Atlantic Zeiser systems.

Andrea Della Torre, R&D Pharma Director at Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, said: “We are very proud to help our customers in their supply chain simplification efforts. Indeed, they are able to reduce both their logistics complexity as well as their working capital requirements, as they can now have a single Primera lid foil, where in the past they may have needed to source up to three different primer systems.”

Colin Reed, Global Pharma Marketing Director at Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas added: “Primera lid foil is an important step in our ongoing drive to use innovation to simplify our customers’ supply chain, improve business continuity and to reduce the total cost of packaging ownership”.
