Quotient Clinical doubles pharma sciences capacity
Quotient Clinical has doubled capacity through the acquisition of a second GMP manufacturing facility and the construction of new formulation development and pharmaceutical analysis laboratories.
The new laboratories, based within the company’s existing Nottingham facility, cover approximately 743 m2 were commissioned in response to increasing customer demand for Quotient’s formulation development services. The new GMP manufacturing facility is located in the MediCity innovation hub in Nottingham and has a footprint of approximately 279 m2. It comprises eight multipurpose suites, offering the opportunity to manufacture drug products on a large scale, with all the necessary containment controls to enable safe handling of high potency molecules. The facility is scheduled to become operational later in 2015 following an MHRA inspection.
Quotient Clinical chief executive officer Mark Egerton said: “This expansion is in direct response to the increasing demand for our Translational Pharmaceutics services. Our approach of integrating formulation development, real-time GMP manufacturing and clinical testing is proving an attractive option to reduce development timelines and associated costs.”
