Sartorius acquires software company

Sartorius, an international partner of the biopharmaceutical industry and research laboratories, has acquired MKS Instruments company (Umetrics).

Umetrics is a specialist in data analytics software for modelling and optimising biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing processes. Based in Malmö, Sweden, it has been involved with Sartorius for around five years and was purchased for $72.5 million from MKS Instruments.

Additionally, Sartorius has announced the completion of its acquisition of Essen BioScience after receiving antitrust clearance. Through this acquisition, Sartosius will see an expansion of its portfolio in bioanalytics.

“Through the five companies that we have have acquired over the past nine months, we have further extended the footprint of both our group divisions in biopharmaceutical applications considerably,” said Joachim Kreuzburg, Sartorius group CEO.
