UK-based biopharmaceutical services and technology company, Stratophase, has announced it has joined the recently established National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL) in the US.

The company’s membership was confirmed during the inaugural NIIMBL meeting held in Washington DC in May, which was attended by Simon Saxby, CEO of Stratophase.

Launched by the US Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritker, at the end of last year, this institute is the 11th within the Manufacturing USA network and the first to be funded by the US Department of Commerce.

“As an innovative biotech services and technology company, we are acutely aware of how important the US market is to Stratophase,” remarked Saxby. “Joining NIIMBL as a founder member demonstrates how serious we are about continuing to forge links with the US biopharmaceutical manufacturing sector. We are looking forward to our active involvement in the industrial and academic collaborations that will be enabled by being part of NIIMBL, over the coming months and years.”

The institute is aimed at advancing the US’s leadership in biopharmaceuticals as well as fostering the country’s economic development, innovating the manufacturing of medical treatments and ensuring a future qualified workforce by collaborating with educational institutions. It aims to raise $250180 million to disburse as awards for project funding by teams that are members.
