The search for an effective antiseptic active ingredient

Benzalkonium Chloride is an alternative active substance for the manufacture of antiseptic products. It is a very stable quaternary ammonium compound (Quat) widely used in the pharmaceutical and personal care industries.

The manufacturer, FeF Chemicals, says that benzalkonium chloride is suitable as an active for a new formulation or to replace Triclosan in an existing formulation.

It is cGMP manufactured to pharmaceutical grade in Denmark by a specialist supplier of pharmaceutical Quats.

FEF describes its proven record of efficacy against a broad spectrum of microorganisms, adding that it is also odourless, colourless, surface active (surfactant), foams easily, has a long shelf life and is REACH compliant.

FeF Chemicals is a Novo Nordisk company that specialises in the supply of ingredients for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, such as cGMP manufactured Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (Quats) e.g. Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC), Cetrimide and Cetrimonium Bromide (CTAB) and Insulin Human for cell culture media.

The group offers full traceability with multiple storage locations and a large safety stock.

FEF will be on stand 1731 at the Informex Exhibition & Conference in New Orleans from February 3rd-6th.
