WIP Isolated In-Cap for High Potency Applications

Nowadays there is an ever more increasing demand for operators' safety during production processes. In fact, the pharmaceutical trend is to use potent compounds in drug development, requiring consequently high containment technology in both formulation and final packaging. One of the application fields that now requires more stringent measures for operator protection due to their potency is encapsulation.

For this reason, Dott has developed a special In-Cap to be isolated inside an isolator. This In-Cap is made of stainless steel AISI 304 (parts in contact with the product are made in stainless steel AISI 316 L) and can operate both inside or outside the isolator thanks to a carriage with sliding guides to help its coming out of the isolator. Its design enables operation and cleaning as well, without contaminating the working environment. It is fully washable as it has IP 65 protection and according to the customer's needs can be completely interfaced with their utilities or supplied with predispositions so they can configure all connections later.

Upon request, the unit can be supplied with instrumented pins in order to detect pressing force during slug formation.

Safety interlocks ensure that moving parts cannot be accessed whilst the equipment is operational.

The output of this unit is 3,000 capsules/hour and it can run with all possible combinations of products, e.g., powder and pellets, powder and tablets, powder and  liquids, two powders, two pellets and so on.
