Blister leak detection machine gets big pharma backing

Claimed to be a world first in automated, tool-less and non-destructive leak detection machines for blister packs and validated by 7 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies, Sepha's VisionScan Max made its debut at this year's Achema.

VisionScan Max is able to leak test full production batches of blister-packs with minimal operator input, which the company says delivers significant quality improvements and cost savings. The machine integrates with blister production lines via automated pick and place technologies or operates as a standalone unit.

Sepha's head of sales and marketing Paul Kelly said: "VisionScan Max is the natural evolution of our highly successful VisionScan product launched just three years ago. It uses the same inspection technologies with faster test times to meet the needs of customers who want to test higher volumes of packs non-destructively as part of their quality assurance procedures whilst removing costly operator test times."

VisionScan Max tests up to 600 packs per hour at accuracy levels of 15 micron, giving repeatable objective pass and fail results. The operator loads a magazine of blisters into the unit, the unit automatically runs the tests and sorts product into segregated pass and fail containers.

VisionScan Max also features a new user friendly HMI interface with two-click functionality, enabling operators to access any menu with a maximum of two clicks.
