Cherwell Recruits Service Manager for SAS Microbial Monitoring Equipment

Microbiology media and instruments supplier to the pharmaceutical and related industries Cherwell Laboratories has appointed Iain Wren as its new Service Manager. Wren takes up the reins of Cherwell’s Engineering department, which is responsible for routine servicing and calibration of customers’ SAS microbial air monitoring equipment, plus Cherwell’s own manufacturing equipment and cleanroom services. Following a user survey, this department was recently commended by Cherwell’s SAS customers for excellence in customer support and high standards in product and service.

The Cherwell Engineering department is responsible for the routine service and calibration of customer equipment, such as SAS air samplers, primarily within its own onsite workshop but also increasingly at customer sites. Cherwell’s engineers ensure fast turnaround times for service and calibration, therefore minimising SAS air sampler downtime. In his new role, Wren will be seeking to further enhance Cherwell’s servicing options for customers.

An extremely experienced electrical engineer educated to degree level, Wren joins Cherwell after 22 years with the RAF. Here he served in 55 countries, initially as a Ground Electrical Engineer, before spending 12 years as an Engineering Manager and then five years sharing his expertise teaching. As well as degree level electrical engineering/electronics, Wren also holds qualifications in electrical installation, design and inspection, with broad experience ranging from generators and air conditioning systems through to x-ray systems and vehicles.

Wren replaces Martin Saunders who is retiring after 12 very successful years with Cherwell. Andy Whittard, Managing Director of Cherwell Laboratories, commented: “I would like to thank Martin for his dedication and commitment to Cherwell over the past 12 years and wish him well in retirement. As Iain takes over as Service Manager, I’m sure our business will benefit from the wealth of experience and skills he has amassed from his time in the RAF as an Electrical Engineer and Engineering Manager.”

Cherwell has been supplying the UK market with the SAS range of microbial air samplers for over 30 years. The range includes a wide selection of portable handheld units, a compressed air sampling device and an isolator specific unit, all of which provide benefits for specific environmental monitoring purposes.
