Symbion Systems Announces Availability of Driver for B&W Tek Raman Spectrometers

Symbion Systems has released its driver for B&W Tek portable and handheld Raman spectrometers, used in pharmaceutical and process control applications. The new driver integrates all of the functions of B&W Tek’s instruments into the Symbion-DX and RX analytical instrument software suites, providing comprehensive capabilities for both laboratory development and on-line process monitoring (PAT) for regulated and non-regulated industries.

B&W Tek’s full range of portable and handheld Raman spectrometers offer non-invasive, non-destructive sample analysis that can be performed through transparent containers, all while maintaining sample integrity and volume. The company's mobile Raman platform provides rapid and reliable results in almost any environment, making it the ideal platform for Symbion’s software. In addition to instrumentation, B&W Tek provides a full range of support with implementation, including IQ, OQ, PQ documentation and training.

The addition of Symbion’s software functionality broadens B&W Tek’s already comprehensive line of software (including sophisticated platforms such as BWID and BWIQ) as well as the considerable capabilities of B&W Tek’s instruments. Now, the technologies of both companies operate as autonomous analytical systems, providing complete sample system control, database storage (including store and forward capability) and integral chemometric modelling and prediction.  

Symbion-DX and RX provide standardised platforms for controlling a wide range of spectrometers and other analytical instruments. In addition, they feature extensive data manipulation and application development capabilities as well as the ability to communicate with numerous third party programmes and enterprise-wide data systems. In short, Symbion-DX and RX streamline the development of comprehensive analytical methods encompassing instrument and sample system control, data analysis, process trending, database archiving and reporting to enterprise-wide data systems. Each method is permanently stored in an Oracle database and is under full version control, compliant with 21 CFR Part 11. Once validated, a method can be recalled from the database and downloaded for deployment at multiple instrumentation locations.
