Pharmapack Europe tackles sterilisation and counterfeiting

by

One of the main themes at Pharmapack Europe 2016 was serialisation and the industry’s efforts to overcome counterfeiting in pharmaceuticals

The Serialisation, Track and Trace Symposium, covered the ongoing implementation of track and trace technologies, as well as a discussion on the implications of the pan-European authentication scheme and its impact on contract manufacturers, OEMs and international pharma companies.

Part of the agenda included an exchange on enhanced anti-counterfeiting strategies, focusing on using efficient authentication technologies to support brand protection and supply chain integrity, according to event organiser UBM EMEA.

Patient centricity was another treme that emerged from the event with three out of seven award winners related to product’s ease-of-use and patient protection, while two Learning Lab sessions covered new insights on serving patients through enhanced packaging.

Lionel Jeannin, device and packaging expert at Novartis, said: “Pharmapack Europe is the key event of the pharmaceutical packaging and medical device industry.”

Anne Schumacher, event director at Pharmapack Europe, said: “2016 was an exciting edition for Pharmapack. Key trends we have observed this year include the ongoing serialization efforts, new delivery mechanisms, connected devices and industry initiatives to increase patient centricity.”

The next Pharmapack Europe event will take place on the 1-2 of February 2017, again at the Paris expo Porte de Versailles.
