PSL Celebrates 25 Years in Business with Opening of Sixth Office in Perth

On a mission to increase its number of global offices, agents and distributors to aid the smooth distribution of filtration, drying, sterile production and high containment solutions to any part of the world, PSL (Powder Systems Ltd) has announced the opening of PSL Australia, looking after the company’s customers in the Asia Pacific region (excluding India).

Owing to increased demand from the Asia Pacific region and ongoing projects with leading pharmaceutical companies in Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea, PSL recognised the need for a presence in the area and to have face-to-face relationships with customers and suppliers. “PSL has been supporting the Asian markets for two decades, with leading edge technologies supplied to blue chip pharma groups in South East Asia accounting for more than 60 installations in Singapore alone,” said Managing Director Remy Wattiaux.

Headed by Pierre Landais, Tendering Manager Asia-Pacific, PSL Australia will look after the Asia Pacific region. Landais started working at PSL in 2009 as a graduate Project Manager. He moved to a Technical Sales Manager position based in PSL France in 2012 and had the ambition to open a new office to cover the Asia Pacific region. Landais will look after all of the region, serving new and existing customers with advanced process requirements. He will also provide real-time support to PSL’s local partners and distribution network throughout the region, including Nara Machinery in Japan.

In 2010, the Australian pharmaceuticals industry had a turnover of approximately $22 billion (€16/£13.2 billion). With exports over $4.1 billion (€3/£2.5 billion) in 2009-10, making pharmaceuticals one of Australia’s major manufactured exports.

This growing manufacturing centre for the region is an ideal base of operations for the new office. In addition, Australia is ideally located to travel around the South East Asia region, including the major ‘pharmerging’ markets such as Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and China. Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world and the expectation is that it will continue to grow in the coming years with China and Indonesia leading the Asian growth with approximately 15% annual growth.

The design and manufacture of facilities for the production of high potency drugs including oncology require advanced process technology, understanding and experience. PSL has significant experience designing and engineering advanced containment processes for highly potent and valuable products including sterile, oncology, hormone and many other pharmaceutical compounds.
