by

Tepnel Pharma Services (Tepnel), a business unit of Hologic, has been awarded ISO 17025:2005 accreditation for extracting and genotyping services

The accreditation is for DNA extraction from whole blood using Nucleon chemistry and DNA genotyping using InvaderPLUS by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

Bob Holt, senior manager, biomarker and CDx services for Tepnel, said: “Accreditation is the next stage in our commitment to leading the field in data integrity and quality assurance.

“It marks the continued development of our biomarker services, acknowledging our proficiency in this growing area and demonstrating our commitment to improving patient outcomes.”

The ISO 17025:2005 standard is a means of assessing the technical competence and integrity of organisations that offer laboratory services.

Accreditation is the final step which recognises that an organisation is competent to perform specific processes, as detailed in a scope of accreditation, in a reliable, credible and accurate manner, underpinning the quality of results by ensuring their traceability, comparability, validity and commutability.
