At Mediplas — on 25–26 September 2013, at the NEC, Birmingham, UK — pharmaceutical coding specialist Sunala will demonstrate the Wolke m600 Advanced small character thermal inkjet printer, operating with a special cross-web traversing unit, which enables the printer to be integrated into existing lines with multiple head configurations.
The m600 Advanced offers the flexibility to easily handle a wide variety of coding requirements from simple date and lot coding to full serialisation. It combines ease of operation, consistent high quality print, full integration capability and low cost of ownership.
A major benefit is the machine’s ability to print variable Datamatrix codes to ECC 200. These are increasingly being adopted by companies thanks to their greater flexibility and accuracy and their ability to include a huge amount of information in a concise format, which makes the m600 an ideal choice for track and traceability requirements, particularly for products that are exported worldwide.
Data for the bar codes is transferred to the printer via a built-in Ethernet port and the m600 Advanced also features a USB port as standard. In addition, the printer is capable of printing variable addresses and labels.
Wolke m600 models feature the unique HP cartridge system which contains both the environmentally-friendly water-based ink and the print head, to ensure a maintenance and trouble-free operation. This also provides a consistently high quality and easily readable code. Equally important, using cartridges prevents ink spillages both during operation and changeovers to maintain a clean working environment, essential for any type of medical application.
Solid state electronics with no moving parts, and no wear items or replacement parts with the exception of the cartridge system also contribute to a low cost of ownership.
