Marchesini will be exhibiting a complete aseptic vial filling line at INTERPHEX 2013, 23–25 April, New York, US, Booth 2243. The line meets the demands of a market requiring groundbreaking technologies for the sterile field. The strong growth of products with high biological activity, the rise in the production of freeze-dried products and growing focus of the pharmaceutical industry and of law-setting bodies on quality and safety criteria have indeed lead the current distribution technologies of injectable products to becoming obsolete before time.
The different configurations and layouts of the systems gave rise to quite a few issues such as ergonomics, the efficiency of the washing and sanitising systems, the real hours of availability for production of the systems and last but not least the costs of the systems themselves.

The line on show processes 400 pieces per minute and is remarkably technological. It consists of the rotary WR24 washing machine the DEPYR 601 depyrogenation tunnel and the Stery LC filler/stoppering machine.
The WR24 belongs to the range of rotary washing machines that wash the inside and outside of containers such as cartridges, vials and ampoules. The machine has been developed exploiting new mechanical and hydraulic technological concepts of the pharmaceutical industry, making the WR machine one of the most advanced of its kind. Its remarkable features of quick size changeover and versatility mean it can also be used on multipurpose lines.
The DEPYR 601 belongs to a new range of hot airflow depyrogenation tunnels. New technologies have been exploited to build it and it is indeed one of the most appreciated machines of the industry. Simple to install and manage, DEPYR offers all the solutions required to guarantee optimum distribution of the depyrogenation and cooling temperatures. Thanks to its construction and its equipment, it is straightforward and timesaving to validate and re-calibrate.
Stery LC is a linear and continuous-motion, balcony design filling/stoppering machine for vials. Its special design makes wall-installation easier and does away with moving mechanical components within the critical zone. The vial conveyor has single holders that allow the vials to be conveyed and processed without scraping against each other, thus guaranteeing the total absence of particles and allowing the vials to be scanned by cameras or picked-up automatically to be weighed. An exclusive automatic statistic weighing system, utilising just one set of scales, ensures a laboratory-comparable weighing process; according to the company, it can be perfectly validated because it is the most precise of its kind.
